YouTube activity

[edit]

I've been using YouTube since 2007. I'm a "YouTube vet." I think it was so much more fun back then than it is today. I've largely abandoned my support for YouTube at all. Unfortunately, most of the surviving content from my youth comes from the early 2010s, not the 2000s. That really is unfortunate. Well, 2010-2012 YouTube was still a lot like 2000s YouTube in a lot of ways anyway. Certainly it was a lot more like the original YouTube than today's hideous version.

Most of my videos were gaming videos, so I will only talk about my fully original content on YouTube here (all of which I released into the public domain), and not about fair use content.

GiraffeCheetah cartoon series

[edit]

I made a really bad series of cartoons called the GiraffeCheetah cartoons at one point in late 2010. But it was pretty fun, honestly. The format mostly consisted of badly drawn faces with their dialogue text below them. Unfortunately, I was not able to find any of the original episodes, or even any of their original frames, after many hard drives of digging through. It's possible they're still around somewhere, but I'm not putting my bets on it. Pretty sad. It'd be a pretty good nostalgia trip for me to see them again. And they were so unpopular that no one else would've saved them.

What you see above are likely the only surviving clips of only two of the cartoons. I had made a wiki at Wikia for the GiraffeCheetah series, but Wikia decided since there was no activity there for seven years it was time for them to delete it, in 2018—absolutely unforgivable, outrageous! Luckily, the wiki has been archived; well, most of it. Everything except two of the images on the whole wiki have been lost to time, and the sad thing is there were at least 20 images of the show hosted there. Why weren't they archived? Because Wikia keeps their image files for all wikis stored outside the wikis themselves, apparently, which the archivist didn't account for.

I tried to email Wikia's staff to get them to restore it, but their staff replied to me and told me it was impossible. They also gave me this bullshit speech about how there was "no way that they could justify keeping inactive wikis on their site." No way they could justify! Really! As if all those ads on the site aren't paying them enough to keep some small, inactive wiki around that should've been kept for historical purposes. You really can't trust hosting sites or big Internet corporations anymore. Lesson learned: If you care about any of your content kept anywhere on the Internet, save it locally! Keep in mind that your work is under someone rich guy in California's full and absolute discretion.

So, anyway, all we have are two horrible-quality thumbnails downloaded directly from YouTube at the time these videos were available and uploaded to the wiki by me. You might argue I should've been more responsible with my own content if I cared about it so much, but who really knows much better at age 11? Most people probably wouldn't care about this cartoon, but damn it, it was part of my childhood! I want it back.
