In this piggery in Laukaa, "the sows were kept in cramped cages […] The animal facilities were very dirty and there were a lot of flies in the piggery. The sows had several bedsores. The animals' drinking water was dirty." Pigs usually do not live long in such conditions as they are usually slaughtered before age 2, which would be 7% of their "maximum expected lifespan" of 27.
