Water quality assessment has been conducted on the River Aire at four locations from its source at Malham Cove to Saltaire in West Yorkshire. Samples of river water were analysed on site for Phosphate, Ammonia, pH, Conductivity, Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, Turbidity and Free and Total Chlorine. Samples were taken back to the laboratory to be analysed for Total coliforms and E. coli. Kick samples were observed and the invertebrates identified and counted and used to determine the biotic index at each location.
