Thanks for uploading Image:Koch_Ilse.png. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Please note that if you won't provide a valid license in 7 days your image will be deleted and if you upload a lot of images without licenses you may be blocked from editing wikimedia-commons. Thank you.

I added my remark on the special discussion page concerning this file. I just wanted to note that although the design falls under "freedom of panorama", the file itself maybe copyright protected. If you downloaded the file from a copyright protected site (most IL sites are copyright protected, even those belonging to official authorities), then reusing the file may be a copyright violation. You can copy the design with a graphic application, i.e. producing your own file, and upload it to the Commons. Drork (talk) 11:19, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Kippi70!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

[edit]

Yuval Y § Chat § 22:14, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

FoP-Israel.

Drork (talk) 12:11, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Drork (talk) 09:05, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Hidro (talk) 15:44, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Hidro, sorry ofr that, this is a beginner's mistake. As i have learned in time as there is no change to the oroginal image, PD premission is enough. I can only tell you there are quite a few images i uploaded this way, i'm not sure i feel like going over all of them correcting the license. Best Regards --kippi70 (talk) 21:18, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Israeli CoA's

[edit]

Hi,

I am not sure Pieter Kuiper's suggestion is good. The Israeli legal system does not refer to copyrights on insignia. Since insignia are protected with special statutes and regulations, it probably seemed redundant to define the copyright status of these designs. Nevertheless, it is highly unlikely that any of the State's emblems or flags are copyright protected. Pieter Kuiper suggests that a designed copied to רשומות becomes copyright exempted. I am not sure this is true. We are not talking here about a new text added to רשומות but a design copied there. Drork (talk) 15:31, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

In User:Nilfanion/Israel#Image summmary also Deror avi seems to be of the opinion that the exemption of "Official Publications" is a good reason for considering these CoA designs to be free. If article 6 would not be valid for these designs, one would need to establish two things: that local municipalities have State copyright and that the design is older than 50 years. If State copyright does not apply to local authorities, practically all of the CoA's must be deleted, because few if any can be older than 70 years. Alternatively, one finds a photo of a 3D representation permanently situated in a public place. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 12:25, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
Pieter Kuiper, the fact that you suggest that state-copyrights are different on the local and nationwide level show how poor your knowledge is in what concerns the Israeli legal and governmental system. I am tired of providing you lessons about the issue. Deror is a distinguished lawyer with a lot of experience in Israel. As you can see he never offers his opinion about the situation in the Netherlands or Sweden, because his experience relates to Israel. I would appreciate if you take a similar non-arrogant approach. I don't trust your quotes, so I'll ask him personally if he think the above-mentioned idea is workable. In the meantime, try to treat issues about which you possess some knowledge. Drork (talk) 12:42, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

--Pieter Kuiper (talk) 18:49, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi Pieter, i'm not sure yet regarding the copyright status of stamps in Israel. As far as i can tell now stamps issued 50 years ago and older are PD and ALL the others might be still copyrighted. I'm trying to clarify this issue for two weeks (as currently the Hebrew Wiki states that stamps are PD) and i believe we will reach a decision quite soon. Your statement regarding the ministry of post is not correct as currently the company that issues all stamps in Israel ("Doar Israel") is a fully state owned company and this company is a part of the Ministry of Communications. Best Regards --kippi70 (talk) 09:38, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Could you give me a pointer to where this is discussed on hewp? I am not certain about the protection term of current stamps. It might very well be 70 years after death, even if the company is state owned. It is not so relevant for commons right now. But what I wrote was that the old ones would have had State copyright, now expired. Regards, /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 09:57, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
One thing i AM sure of , the protection term is NOT "70 years after death" as i have got a mail from "Doar Israel" which clearly says that all rights on design of stamps belong to the state. According to this i said that Israeli stamps enjoy a protection term of 50 years after their issue date as they are considered to be "a work made by the state". I need to check which paragraph in the Copyright Law handles this - Paragraph 36 (State Ownership Works) and paragraph 42 (Duration of Copyright in State Works).(i will add late a link to this issue in the Hebrew Wiki). A similar opinion you can find in Image Summary in here User:Nilfanion/Israel. Best regards --kippi70 (talk) 13:26, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Zikhron Yaaqov Municipal Emblem New.png. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:Julis COA.png.

Thank you.

File:Amos Ben Gurion 1948.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

This media may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Gideon Patt 1980 crop.jpg, is missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted.

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!
