Hello, I'm Jack Dunn

Using my images

[edit]

Images I upload here are intended for use in the context of Wikipedia only. You can usually find better versions of the images on my Flickr - be aware that these images may be licensed under more restrictive (but still Creative Commons) terms. Please also be careful to check the image does actually have a CC license - if it's uploaded here then it almost certainly does, but not all of my images across all platforms are licensed the same. If I don't mention copyright, then assume you don't have a license to use it. It doesn't hurt to ask me if you really want one!

Also, it would be nice if you let me know you're going to use my image - it's nice to know I've helped :)

I got a scary letter from Pixsy

[edit]

TL;DR If you get an email from Pixsy, then please do contact me, and make sure you've attributed the photo to my website (not my Wikimedia Commons page).

I like to know who use my images and where, so I have engaged Pixsy's scanning services to see where my images go. They don't have permission to make a takedown request or demand payment without my prior authorisation. You should only ever be contacted if you have a) forgotten to credit me under the Creative Commons license, b) if you have accidentally used it in a way that was not permitted, or c) inadvertently used one of my other non-licensed images.

Usually (but not always), if that is the case, I have attempted to contact you, but failed (either because I can't find out how or because I haven't received a reply). Don't worry, it's not too late - please do get in contact with me. I will be significantly more forgiving than Pixsy, and (at my sole discretion) will be willing to instruct Pixsy to drop the case if you are able to resolve the issue.

If you feel you've done nothing wrong, contact me anyway - it's entirely possible Pixsy has ignored my wishes, or that I've made a mistake, or there has been some misunderstanding.
