Usage

This template should be used for every recording of pronunciations that appear under Category:Pronunciation. It specifies the recorded word and it's language according to ISO 639-3.

Usage:

{{Pronunciation|language|word}}
where:
language is a language code out of the ISO 639-3 specification and
word is the written representation of the recorded word.
Examples:
{{Pronunciation|en|London}} for the pronunciation of the british capital's name in english language.
{{Pronunciation|zh-cmn|Běijīng}} for the mandarin chinese pronunciation of the name of PR China's capital.

IPA and homophones

For the sake of unambiguousness IPA representation can be specified with this template. Additionaly, as to make automatic retrieval possible and be able to deal with homophones which can be found in many languages, an additional handling might be necessary and can be indicated here:

Additional parameters (both are optional):

where:
IPA is the representation in the International Phonetic Alphabet and
'homograph' is a keyword that indicates a homograph and triggers a warning.
Example:
{{Pronunciation|en-GB|Reading|ˈɹɛdɪŋ|homograph}} for the city Reading whichs textual representation collides with the verb reading.
