Aim:

  • To edit and improve wikipedia articles related to educational institutions all over the world and provide a better experience and an accurate picture of institutions to students and their parents.
  • Provide the relevant information and knowledge related to editing on the user page to help aspiring editors.

Student bodies can be contacted regarding the improvement/creation, citation or review of the page. The editing tasks are taken up individually and not on behalf of any individual from institutions.

Operating Procedure

[edit]
  • Conduct research for extracting useful data and inputs from reliable sources and cite the edits.
  • Edit already published articles on Universities, Colleges, Institutions and add relevant information to them.
  • Create Wikipedia pages for newly formed institutions.
  • Add relevant photos on Wikimedia Commons and later use them for the betterment of articles.
  • Remove disambiguating links.
  • Remove notices which degrade article quality and reach (such as: "more citations needed", "article relies too much on references to primary sources", "contains content that is written like an advertisement").

What do you need to know?

[edit]

Reliable sources

[edit]

Sources that contain true information/facts about the university (such as: whether it provides on-campus accommodation, quality of living etc.) These sources may include:

  • College website
  • Online forums/websites where college profile is registered and the facts are provided by alumni which are afterward verified (idle example: getmyuni).
  • College review posts by communities on social media or news websites.
  • Secondary sources such as interviews of professors and alumni, official reports by government or boards that affiliate the university

You can also create primary sources by connecting with alumni on Linkedin or Quora etc.
