The Effects of Religious Cults on the Health and Welfare of Their Converts, was a statement with accompanying testimony read into the Congressional Record on November 3, 1977 by Congressman Leo J. Ryan. Ryan read testimony from John Gordon Clark, M.D., a Harvard psychiatrist, to the Vermont State legislature, into Congressional Record while on the floor of the United States House of Representatives. The statements were then published in the Congressional Record's November 4, 1977 - "Extensions of Remarks."
