Now is "after"?

[edit]

Campaign:wlm-cz displays Template:Upload campaign header Wiki Loves Monuments finished instead of Template:Upload campaign header Wiki Loves Monuments August!! Btw., the October "after" template was active during the whole year! --ŠJů (talk) 16:58, 9 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Make this template working well EVERY year:
1) Delete all "2013".
2) Change both "#time:YmdHis" to "#time:mdHis". --Quarz (talk) 17:20, 11 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
ŠJů, Quarz, User:Romaine I would like to propose a rewrite of this template: {{WLM-is-running/sandbox}} which would:
  1. Simplify the code
  2. Move date definitions to {{WLM-is-running/dates}} for easy editing
  3. Make this template working well EVERY year with little editing.
Some test pages can be found at Template:WLM-is-running/testcases. Please comment. --Jarekt (talk) 16:49, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
 Oppose:
  • The code is not a simplification, you just move some parts to another space. Also your proposal does not serve the needs for Wiki Loves Monuments, while the current version does.
  • It is certainly not easy editing, and you should not edit the dates at all. Editing the dates should only be done by the international organiser of Wiki Loves Monuments. Further it is insane to have to edit various pages if one date would change.
  • This template is used to coordinate Wiki Loves Monuments. Participating in the photo contest Wiki Loves Monuments is only possible if minimal requirements are met, to guarantee quality towards participants. Each year is determined which countries participate and which not, controlled by this template. There is no automatic process that a country automatically participates every year, as it requires some effort that needs to done first. The current template works well every year.

Romaine, I was responding to ŠJů call to fix a problem he noticed with the template. I and at least Quarz seem to share the filling that this template can be improved. The problem was reported 4 months ago and if you do not feel like it is a problem, please discuss why the issues ŠJů mentioned are not the problem. Otherwise, you are inviting other admins working on backlog of protected edit requests (recently we had ~80 of them) to loose their time and try to fix the issue. If you do not like my proposed solution please propose better one. --Jarekt (talk) 13:36, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Congratulations! You broke the complete system with your actions. You clearly do not understand how the system has been designed and works, otherwise you would not have messed this up. Romaine (talk) 01:47, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland

[edit]

I saw that Ireland got changed to the 23:rd. Shouldn't the end date also be changed so that it doesn't run for longer than a month ? /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:15, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No it runs until the end of the month. Romaine (talk) 12:59, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Austria

[edit]

Hi User:Romaine!

Could you please add Austria to the list with startdate "20170727220000" and enddate "20171007220000"? The reason for this is, that we're including WLM in a bigger project that's starting this week. Braveheart (talk) 12:30, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Braveheart, Honestly speaking I am a bit surprised. A few days change is possible, but not recommended, but starting more than a month earlier and ending in October is a bit strange, taking the contest more than two months which is not fair for other participants from other countries. I think you need to have contact with User:LilyOfTheWest (which I pinged already earlier this evening), to see how this situation can be matched with the international photo contest. For now I will implement the start date, but this must be discussed with the international team! Romaine (talk) 22:00, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I received a message from Lily that it has been arranged. As said I have implemented it. Romaine (talk) 23:57, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! :-) Sorry, thought this had been communicated within the international team, next time I'll make sure to keep you in the loop :-) Best, Braveheart (talk) 08:10, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the quick back and forth, Romaine, Lily and Braveheart! Yes, we indeed agreed to a different timeline, due to the broader scope and to keep communication about the competition sensible. Effeietsanders (talk) 13:19, 27 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

early starts

[edit]

@Platonides: Thanks for resetting. However, could you add Poland (|pl=20170630220000)? They already started, and will suddenly now see this 'isn't running' which will be confusing. We can leave the rest to Romaine. Thanks! Effeietsanders (talk) 13:40, 18 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Effeietsanders: ✓ Done This campaign was already broken, though. I had left the only 2017 entry (Austria), Poland would have gone to open through the default, but would then show that it was not participating, and after fixing it, it then showed it as closed :)
Note to everyone editing this template: the UploadWizard campaigns showed cached template output after editing, requiring a null edit to the campaign pages. Described at phabricator:T173642

The only one who should edit this template is me. I am aware of the caching for m,any years and act accordingly. Romaine (talk) 13:40, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
