this template is not protected, but i would like a template editor to help check whether it's a good idea to update this by copying en:Template:Remove file prefix.--RZuo (talk) 19:12, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

@RZuo:  Done, yes, it is. It shouldn’t cause any harm and it now handles cases like imAgE:Example.svg, which is accepted by MediaWiki. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:56, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Proposed simplification

You do know you can simplify this code down to {{PAGENAME:{{{1|}}}}} right? Watch:

{{PAGENAME:File:Foo.jpg}}

OUTPUT:

Foo.jpg

{{PAGENAME:Foo.jpg}}

OUTPUT:

Foo.jpg
