"Publisher" field

Could someone added a "publisher" field to this template? I would, but I'm not very good with template markup...--Padraic 15:33, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I think that's what the "org" parameter is supposed to be for, the publishing organization. jwillbur 17:31, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I get it. Now all it needs is a parameter to indicate if the source and license were properly mentioned...I bet that would result in some disappointing categories. --Padraic 17:45, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Because of the “org” parameter always being linkified, we have lots of useless red links. I’ve created a page saying which company a publisher’s parent company belonged to, but there were no images to put on the page, so Kanonkas deleted it. --AVRS (talk) 17:27, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

I think the autolink should be removed, and let people link to their preferred Wikipedia article for the organisation. Otherwise we'd have to choose a single Wikipedia to autolink to, and that doesn't work well with some organisations that seem minor to English speakers. --Para (talk) 21:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

✓ Done. This seems to be have been fixed already. — Cheers, JackLee talk 18:00, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Multiple publications

Hi. Would it be possible to improve this template so that it's possible to add several publications? Some of my photos have been widely reused, it wouldn't make much sense to add 20 times the same template on the talk page. guillom 15:36, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

It should be possible to reuse the en:template:pressmulti template? Nsaa (talk) 16:19, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Let me look into this. — Cheers, JackLee talk 20:04, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Tool to list all template uses

I wrote a tool to show all the information from Category:Commons as a media source: http://toolserver.org/~para/caams.php. It should help with making all the uses of this template prettier. Is there anything that should be added? --Para (talk) 21:19, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Parameter for "legal="

As an image could be licensed by the author directly, we can't generally be sure if it was correctly licensed. Personally, I tend to add "legal=?" in these cases, but oddly this outputs a bold notice. Could this be changed to just show the question mark? -- User:Docu at 17:23, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Add archiveurl, archivedate and accessdate?

I suggest that we add the archiveurl, archivedate and accessdate to this template as in en:Template:Cite web:

| archiveurl =
| archivedate =
| accessdate =

The web is full of en:link rot, and by using services like en:WebCite it will not go missing. Here's an example on use [1] Nsaa (talk) 16:17, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Looks sensible to me. Finn Rindahl (talk) 16:20, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

"media organisation"

Do we really need to have "by a media organisation" ? To me it is too specific not very useful. I think we could do with only This file has been published in:. Where it has been published should be made sufficiently explicit by what appears in the parameters. In some cases, "media organisation" looks rather awkward, like File talk:Grenoble - Saint-Hugues - vitrail.JPG. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zolo (talk • contribs) 00:35, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

I agree. It looks like no one has maintained this template for a while. Let me look into it when I have some time. — Cheers, JackLee talk 16:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Ok thanks--Zolo (talk) 18:03, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
I have prepared a revised version of the template. See Template:Published/sandbox and Template:Published/testcases, and if you have any suggestions leave a message here. — Cheers, JackLee talk 20:04, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Parameter org lost

Thanks for reworking the template. I used it a lot for reusages on the web and entered in the former 'org=' parameter the website's name/organisation's name. This parameter seems be lost now. Bug or feature?

Example: File talk:Dogan Akhanli (9279).jpg. Some spaces between elements could be added too. Raymond 21:44, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Bug, definitely. Thanks for notifying it. I moved the "org" parameter in the template, making it a synonym for "publisher". Is it okay ?
About spaces and other potential typo problems: the template uses {{Cite journal}} by default. I guess "cite journal" could be updated too.--Zolo (talk) 07:51, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
I added one space that could be added directly in the template and changed the default to a gray square, it may not look very good but since it may happen that terms of license are not complied with but that it was not specified in the template, I don't think we should have "terms of license complied with" by default.--Zolo (talk) 08:26, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
✓ Done: I have updated {{Cite journal}} and {{Published}}. — Cheers, JackLee talk 12:12, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Error message

What is the reason for such an error messgae. I copied the template from another picture. -- Хрюша ?? 06:48, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

If you are citing a website, you must use the parameter "cite=web". Please see the instructions on how to use the template at {{Published}}. — Cheers, JackLee talk 07:04, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
To avoid this, shouldn't we have "cite web" by default as it seems to be the most common case ?--Zolo (talk) 08:02, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
So something has been changed or added in the template. When I added them some months ago they were without error messages. -- Хрюша ?? 09:08, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, it works. -- Хрюша ?? 09:10, 5 January 2011 (UTC)
Yes, the template was overhauled recently. It defaults to {{Cite journal}}, but in this case the |cite= parameter had been included but left blank. If the parameter had been omitted altogether there would not have been any error message, I think. — Cheers, JackLee talk 10:04, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Documentary films

No entry here for use in documentary films/TV, which has happened with at least a few of my photos. - Jmabel ! talk 19:12, 22 March 2011 (UTC)

Do we have a {{cite}} template for such references here? If so, it can be incorporated into the template. — Cheers, JackLee talk 04:23, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Opens a parenthesis it does not close

See File talk:Grays Harbor County Courthouse 02.jpg. "(2011-12). 2012 calendar (one page cardstock calendar, in English. Aberdeen Realty, Inc.." - Jmabel ! talk 06:08, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

✓ Done, it was a typo in template:Cite book, thanks for notifying it. --Zolo (talk) 08:02, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
