Government Works

[edit]

The main thesis of the copyright law in Ethiopia seems to be that highly leaning to protect Private businesses or individuals from being victim to violations. For example it quite clearly states laws or texts from administrative positions as Prime Minister or Ministerial offices cannot be copyrighted yet is silent on government photos or audiovisuals. The status of copyright seems to help private individuals and entities rather than protect the government, although never explicitly stated it would appear works published by government which are automatically for *general news* cannot be copyrighted since they exist not commercial not personal gain nor moral rights. I do not think the government has made it clear enough to assume they as private entities and persons have such rights. I reached out to the Ethiopian Copyright office for clarification since they are the body governing and enforcing such laws, no comments have been given.
