Bug fix has been implemented on all Wikimedia projects

I looked at both static and animated GIF images in image categories. Both are now being scaled correctly. See the Commons:Graphics village pump discussion for more info. --Timeshifter (talk) 06:26, 5 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the GIF animation bug is back. Maybe we should reinsert this template and when the bug next gets fixed, we can just blank the template output instead of removing it from categories. This would allow us to switch the NOGALLERY on and off more quickly. -84user (talk) 15:56, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've reinstated this template in a few categories and also used it to replace some existing inclusions of __NOGALLERY__, so that the "NOGALLERY" can be more easily switched off. Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:NOGALLERY animated GIF bug lists the categories currently with the template. -84user (talk) 16:14, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bugzilla bug 23063

[edit]

See bugzilla:23063. Patches and fixes have been implemented. The developers have indicated that they will keep the GIF scaling turned on. Animated images that are too large in megabytes have only one frame shown. This also includes animated images where the number of frames times the frame size in kilobytes surpasses the limit. --Timeshifter (talk) 04:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've disabled the template for now. I hope this time the fix stays. -84user (talk) 05:00, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
