May

[edit]

{{editprotected}}

Please change {{int:May}} to {{int:May_long}}. Only {{int:may}} is short form, the others are long form. Thanks.--Kwj2772 (msg) 12:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. (But as a comment: Not very well-considered message names...) --Slomox (talk) 13:28, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

ins and inst forms

[edit]

See

I think we have two forms 'ins' and 'inst' for w:Instrumental case. 'cs' uses 'inst'. I think we should move all the 'inst/cs' messages to 'ins/cs'. John Vandenberg (chat) 03:36, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the same recently and agree that it should be fixed. --Jarekt (talk) 03:53, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your point is uniformity, right? I'm okay with the change. --Slomox (talk) 07:30, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was hoping for uniformity so we could document 'ins' and 'loc' on the template page and, if we can show a real need for these, we could request that they been added as real messages (like 'gen') which can then be translated on translate wiki. John Vandenberg (chat) 07:52, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem with me, it’s just an abbreviation for instrumental and locative case (in addition to the genitive supported directly by MediaWiki). --Mormegil (talk) 08:43, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I forgot: no problem renaming the messages provided their use (at least, I know about {{Other date}}) is adjusted, obviously. --Mormegil (talk) 08:49, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I think Special:Search/template:form_inst shows that {{Other date}} is the only template, however a few more at Special:Search/user:form_inst which we can update too. --John Vandenberg (chat) 09:37, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done I renamed -inst/cs pages to -ins/cs, updated {{Other date}}, template:I18n month/doc and template:ISOdate/doc --Jarekt (talk) 15:25, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Beautiful! John Vandenberg (chat) 15:42, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed changes

[edit]

I created Template:I18n month/sandbox with much shorter version of the template and tested it on Template:I18n month/testcases. Unless I hear otherwise I am planning on replacing Template:I18n month with the new version. --Jarekt (talk) 15:47, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, May seems to be broken in Czech (at least), the reason probably being MediaWiki:May vs. MediaWiki:May long. Cf. {{I18n month|05|cs}} → „květen“ vs. {{I18n month/sandbox|05|cs}} → „květen“. --Mormegil (talk) 16:05, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed. Yes MediaWiki:May is quite bizarre and in many cases seems incorrect. I assume it should hold 3 letter abbreviation of "May" in various languages instead of full month's name which is handled by MediaWiki:May long. However MediaWiki:May in cs language it gives "5." (full name is "květen"), in fi "toukokuu" (full name is "toukokuu"), in ru "май" (full name is "май"). What is also strange is that MediaWiki:May-gen is used for genitive case instead MediaWiki:May long-gen. --Jarekt (talk) 19:08, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
