Parameters

[edit]

It says that the template takes no parameters, but I have found files using the template (via the Category) that use parameters, e.g.:

{{Exhibited at the Salon|date=1704|number=|comment=}}

Are there other parameters? Obviously it needs date and number or the category cannot sort the files by that data. Or will any of the other parameters in {{Temporary Exhibition}} work? Thanks! Laura1822 (talk) 23:54, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

p.s. This template (and its category) is a great idea, and I'd love to see one for the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Laura1822 (talk) 23:58, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This actually came from the fact that this template used the standard {{Temporary Exhibition/documentation}} but this documentation template is faulty. I'll try to fix it this evening. --Zolo (talk) 08:26, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added the "cat" parameter to {{Temporary Exhibition/documentation}}, because all parameters that use this documentation template seem to have it. Actually {{Exhibited at the Salon}} has more parameters than other exhibition-specific templates but not all those of the root {{Temporary Exhibition}} template, so I just wrote a quick custom doc.
I have made a simple transposition of the template at Template:Temporary Exhibition/documentation simple transposition of this one at Template:Exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition, I hope this is one you had in mind. Note that the "place" parameter is not set by default. If all works in all exhibitions were exhibited at Burlingthon House, as WIkipedia seems to suggest, it can be added directly to the template, otherwise, it is probably better to let user define it in files using the |place parameter. --Zolo (talk) 17:16, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thank you! You do great work! I will do a little research into the R.A. exhibitions; they may have been held elsewhere in the very early years. I'll let you know. Laura1822 (talk) 13:25, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Reported my findings at Template talk:Exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition. Laura1822 (talk) 15:18, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I was going to work on the documentation for the templates for you, but I am confused because there is both a {{Temporary Exhibition/doc}} and a {{Temporary Exhibition/documentation}}. I just don't know enough about how these things work to sort this out. Also, where can I see a list of all the exhibition-specific templates? There doesn't seem to be a hidden category. Laura1822 (talk) 15:32, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All exhibition templates should be in Category:Multilingual tags: Exhibitions in France, but not all use {{Temporary Exhibition}}.
There seems indeed to be some confusion about the doc. {{Temporary Exhibition/doc}} is the correctly named and correctly documented doc page for {{Temporary Exhibition}}. {{Temporary Exhibition/documentation}} would be more like the standard documentation page for individual-exhibition templates making use of {{Temporary Exhibition}}, like {{The Essence of Line}}, but it is rather shortish and not very wisely named. :]. --Zolo (talk) 18:55, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
