separate template?

[edit]

For what reason is this a separate template than Template:Spoken article entry? --Slomox (talk) 11:59, 29 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because Template:Spoken article entry is used by all other audio templates, e.g.
But why is it separate? --Slomox (talk) 22:45, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See w:en:Information hiding and w:en:Encapsulation (object-oriented programming). -- Andrew Krizhanovsky (talk) 11:04, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And how does this apply to the actual example of {{English spoken article}} and {{Spoken article entry}}?
Why is {{English spoken article|title=[...]}} better than {{Spoken article entry|wiki_lang=en|title=[...]}}? --Slomox (talk) 12:44, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I am afraid that you should look into the source code of these two templates, in order to understand the meaning of w:en:Information hiding. -- Andrew Krizhanovsky (talk) 12:53, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Guess what. I did. {{English spoken article}} just calls {{Spoken article entry}} and forwards its parameters unchanged. The only thing {{Spoken article entry}} has not and which {{English spoken article}} adds is categories. But spoken articles should be categorized whatever the language is, so actually that part would better be placed in {{Spoken article entry}} too.
So: what's the _actual_ advantage (not counting thrown-in buzzwords)? --Slomox (talk) 14:03, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The short answer: diff. -- Andrew Krizhanovsky (talk) 16:37, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps this answer makes sense to you. It does not to me. Please provide the long answer. --Slomox (talk) 20:24, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the warning at top of Template:Spoken article entry, and added automatic categorisation[1]. John Vandenberg (chat) 06:00, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
