{{edit request}} (This template doesn't seem to be protected, but I have not been able to find the actual template text to modify it, so am submitting the following as an edit request) Question: Why does this template, which claims to create a tag for the author of a derivative work, not include a parameter for that author⁇ Shouldn't it include such a parameter rather than being placed on a page with no indication of who that author is? And shouldn't that parameter be required? Because the way it looks now, it could also mean "the file from which this derivative work derives", which I don't think is how it is intended, yes? Also, I really think we need to make clear that derivatives works are works entitled to their own copyrights because they include new creative content, not merely works modified by another person in trivial ways, because I am seeing it used without regard for this. Users placing this tag must do so with special care for what it means, and it does not mean, "I modified this file a bit by cropping it, it is now a derivative work".KDS4444 (talk) 19:20, 16 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done @KDS4444: this is just an multilingual tag, which is used on some functional templates. To convert it now to an functional template is not a good idea, but you could create one. -- User: Perhelion 10:46, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
