Timeout

[edit]

{{Move|Template:Thumbnail version|wrong meaning|2012-11-04|Commons_talk:Media_for_cleanup#Template:_Compressed_version-- ΠЄΡΉΛΙΟ 21:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)}}[reply]

The stipulation/restriction to the JPEG format is not a commons rule or recommendation, quite the opposite, the PNG format is preferred. So I've removed this phrase. Especially for Template:JPEG version of PNG (this meaning can also be reversed) and Template:LargePNGthumb. -- πϵρήλιο 18:05, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done: Perhelion rejected his own vintage 2012 {{Move}} request implicitly.:tongue:Be..anyone (talk) 12:20, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thumb

[edit]

The thumb parameter is also useless. Because this template is also used for PNG which don`t generate THUMB's !? See Category:PNG files affected by MediaWiki restrictions -- πϵρήλιο 13:21, 4 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incomprehensible documentation

[edit]

More than 3 seconds to grok what goes where in Template:Information for a simple thumbnail of a big TIFF breaking MediaWiki, where "derivativeFX" doesn't grok the perfectly fine license of the original File:86-G-7A-1-26.tif, are not okay. This should be as simple as 1-2-3. –Be..anyone (talk) 22:50, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

JPEG should be a variable

[edit]

Meanwhile I understood how {{compressed version}} and {{LargeTIFF}} work, but File:Danube_River_in_Vienna_around_1570_(2).png is a PNG of the large TIFF, not a JPEG. There should be another (5th) parameter with default JPEG, and an option to use PNG. Translations using the Latin script could use the actual value (JPEG or PNG) as is, other scripts should already have whatever JPEG needs, but PNG has to be shown as required for languages using other scripts. –Be..anyone (talk) 08:10, 27 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

For me the whole template is nonsense as you can see on my first comment #Timeout. But go ahead.User: Perhelion (Commons: = crap?)  18:40, 26 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
