Outsource the whole painting description ?

[edit]

Is this page solely intended to ease maintenance ? If so wouldn't it make more sense to have the whole painting description here as suggested at template talk:artwork ? (I take it that there is only one painting and that the tremendous color variations between files of the category are solely due to the photograph)--Zolo (talk) 21:24, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I hesitated to do so because several paintings indicate that they are located in Schloß Charlottenburg, while others list Altesnational Berlin. I don't know whether there is a single work that moved, or whether there are multiple copies of the work floating around. Dcoetzee (talk) 04:08, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes. However I can find no mention of a second version of the painting. Many webpages locate the work at Schloß Charlottenburg but most of them clearly use the same source as File:Caspar David Friedrich 002.jpg, that is the Yorck-Project, which is not very reliable. The only one that bothers me is a 1993 reference from Christie's [1]. Maybe the work has been moved: both places are managed by the de:Stiftung Preußische Schlösser und Gärten Berlin-Brandenburg--Zolo (talk) 07:16, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
