Template:Published/doc
Usage
[edit]This template allows editors to indicate that a Commons file has been used in up to ten non-Wikipedia projects. It can also be used to indicate whether or not such use was in compliance with the terms of the file's license, or that the compliance status is uncertain.
The template should be added to the talk page of a file. It then adds the file's talk page to "Category:Commons as a media source". If the template is added to the file description an error message is displayed instead and the page is added to the maintenance category Pages with incorrect usage of Template:Published.
Simple
[edit]The simplest form of usage, for web publication is:
{{Published |cite=web |legal=unclear |title=Foobar |url=https://example.com}}
, with the relevant title and URL.
Template
[edit]The sample templates below can be copied and pasted into the page you are working on. Any unused parameters can be omitted.

Then add one or more of the following sets of parameters:

Own Parameters
[edit]If not otherwise indicated the parameters are optional. For information about the parameters used in citation templates, see {{Cite book}}, {{Cite journal}} and {{Cite web}}.
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
media | By default, the template states: "This file has been used in:". If media=yes (exactly like that) is used (for instance, where the file is used in a serial publication), it states: "This file has been used by a media organization in:" or an equivalent in another language. In some languages there may be no visual difference. |
cite | Mandatory: Indicate cite=book, cite=journal or cite=web depending on whether you wish to use {{Cite book}}, {{Cite journal}} or {{Cite web}}. |
legal | Mandatory: Use this parameter to indicate whether the file has been used in a work in compliance with its license:
|
note | A note relating to the work cited. |
small | With small=yes (exactly like that) the symbol on the left is almost half-sized. |
