Gross pathology of a fresh myocardial infarction of a papillary muscle in the anterior wall of the left ventricle of the heart, appearing as a 12 mm wide dark area on cross section. There is also a thickened wall (approximately 20 mm thick, compared to a normal measurement of up to about 10 mm). No fixation or staining.
