Talk:Sciurus griseus
Misidentified images
[edit]Several of the images in this gallery are probably California Ground Squirrels (Spermophilus beecheyi) and not Western Gray Squirrels
See the wikipedia article for california ground squirrels: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_ground_squirrel, or page 3 of this pdf file for pictures of common Western north American squirrels: http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/diversty/soc/recovery/wgraysquirrel/wgraysquirrel_draft_recovery.pdf or the wiki commons images of Spermophilus beecheyi: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Spermophilus_beecheyi
I didn't put a location under the images that I suspect are misidentified.
The jumping squirrel picture was taken in Austin, Texas. I don't know if that is part of the western gray squirrel range or not but the color of this squirrel didn't look quite right either to my non expert eyes. --76.93.42.183 15:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have deleted the six pictures, that don't show Western Gray Squirrels. --Toffel (talk) 11:35, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
