[edit]Cephalanthus is a small genus of six species of large shrubs, or more rarely small trees, in the coffee family (Rubiaceae). There are three species in the New World, two in Asia, and one in Africa. The common name for members of this genus is buttonbush although in parts of the United States the common names honey-balls and globeflower are sometimes used. The genus occurs mostly in the tropics or subtropics; however, one New World species, Cephalanthus occidentalis Linnaeus, extends north from Central America to parts of Canada.
