What about the Brindle?

[edit]

I fail to see the brindle Basenji mentioned, neither in text nor pictures. Several sources claim that the brindle-coated basenji is the color closest to the native african basenji, tho I have yet to read any "official" information on the subject. Any comments?

I have a reverse brindle, but she's mixed with pit bull so an image might not help... SharkD (talk) 19:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Audio

[edit]

Could someone please upload some audio of the noises they make? I'm curious what a full-blooded Basenji sounds like. SharkD (talk) 19:26, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peace Corps Volunteers--- A potential souce of new blood?

[edit]

As a current Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa, I have a Basenji. He's great. I love him. When I leave here he is coming with me. But I was just reading the Kennel Club History of the Basenji and reading that the owners who worry about registration and papers and all that are at a loss as to how to diversify the American breeding stock. I was wondering if anybody out there had thought of PCVs (and their full-blooded, very healthy, already in America, African Basenjis) as a potential source for diversifying the breed. I am only one volunteer in one country, but I personally know of at least 10 prople who have brought or are planning to take their dogs home.

Just a thought.
