English: Rajahmundry (Telugu: రాజమండ్రి), officially Rajamahendravaram, is a city and municipal corporation of Andhra Pradesh state in India. It is located 400 kilometres (249 mi) east of Hyderabad (capital of Telangana), on the banks of the Godavari River. Rajahmundry is the third largest city in the state and known as its Cultural Capital and born city, since it has a rich cultural past with a flourishing present and a promising future. It was part of the Madras Province before Indian independence. The city's population is 813,347 and that of the urban agglomeration is 968,341 (2009).16°58′48″N 81°46′48″E / 16.98°N 81.78°E.
