1955 "Bubble-Top" Lincoln Cosmopolitan Presidential Limousine
[edit]In 1955, the Cosmopolitan convertible was fitted with a transparent "bubble" roof by President Eisenhower. It can be identified even without the roof by the small chrome mounting point for a strut holding the roof just behind the rear passenger door

1972 Lincoln Continental Presidential Limousine
[edit]A number of images showing the 1967 car have been mistakenly labeled as the 1972 car all over Wikipedia. Besides the obviously different front section it is also possible to tell them apart by their roofs, the 1967 possesses a glass roof that folds out, while the 1972 car has a solid vinyl-covered sliding roof, with an additional hole above the passenger seat only used on this model.

1989 Lincoln Town Car Presidential Limousine
[edit]Introduced in 1989 and based on a Lincoln Town Car. The car features a large silver strip at the bottom of the entire side portion that is not present on the 1983 car. The 1989 model is the first to omit the foldable handgrip on top of the trunk that was used by Secret Service agents standing on extendable footrests.

1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Presidential Limousine
[edit]Introduced in 1993 and based on a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. There seem to be multiple versions of the car, some with additional headroom. The silver section between the driver door and first passenger window makes it easy to tell apart from the 1993 model. It is also a lot more box-shaped than its more rounded successor. While still featuring a vinyl roof, the side pillars are fully painted, whereas its predecessor had vinyl covering up to the window line.

2001 Cadillac Presidential Limousine
[edit]The 2001 car was introduced at the inauguration of George W. Bush in 2001. The first model not based on a production car but a truck chassis, it was called "The Beast", a name applied to all subsequent models. The car received a facelift in 2005 that is somewhat similar to the later 2009 model, but the somewhat disproportional hood and trunk sections that make it seem top-heavy make it easy to identify. It features a painted roof, where previous cars were covered with vinyl.

2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine
[edit]The 2009 car was introduced at the inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009. The side profile of the car is similar to the 2001 model, but the hood and trunk portions were raised significantly to look more proportional to the bulky armored passenger section. The side windows now feature a chrome strip above and below, instead of just below for the 2001 model. The chrome door handles are also significantly larger. The grill is divided with just one horizontal line.
2018 Cadillac Presidential Limousine
[edit]An updated version of the 2009 car, with mostly identical proportions but updated body styling, was first unveiled in 2018. The small side window between driver and passenger door present in the 2001 and 2009 car was replaced with a black panel. The door handles are now partially black instead of fully chrome like the 2009 model. The side mirrors are also no longer chrome but painted black.
