It is possible to overlook the need to replace "new_image.ext" with the new file name after pasting the command template onto User:CommonsDelinker/commands.[1] [2] Perhaps a reminder or putting "new_image.ext" in italics may help. Walter Siegmund (talk) 01:11, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure that would be possible, another option would be to change MediaWiki:Movepage-moved (the message after the file is moved) to <big>'''"$1" has been moved to "$2"'''</big> {{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE:$1}}|{{ns:6}}|Please remember to add {{Tl|Universal replace|{{PAGENAME:$1}}|{{PAGENAME:$2}}|reason=[[Commons:File renaming|File renamed]] (Quick-adding)
Of course, probably with better links. However, I should have probably better thought about this before implementing it. I'm sorry that I made you do bad replace jobs. --The Evil IP address (talk) 14:42, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. That is a better solution. Combined with the deletion of the corresponding instruction from this message would largely prevent the error I made. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 20:40, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I tried this, but unfortunately this doesn't work as expected (probably because the links of this message are external links, which can't be parsed by the parser functions), so I'll tweak this message. --The Evil IP address (talk) 21:42, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That should suffice. Thank you. Walter Siegmund (talk) 17:25, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiSyntax

[edit]

{{Editprotected}} At Commons:Village_pump#Wiki_syntax_error_in_move_message Jmabel mentions a syntax problem. To fix this and instructions for file moves, please replace the current version with the following:

source
Using the form below will rename a page, moving all of its history to the new name.
The old title will become a redirect page to the new title. Please be sure to check for [[Special:DoubleRedirects|double]] or [[Special:BrokenRedirects|broken redirects]]. You are responsible for making sure that links continue to point where they are supposed to go.

Note that the page will '''not''' be moved if there is already a page at the new title, unless it is empty or a redirect and has no past edit history. In this case, please ask at the [[COM:AN|administrator's noticeboard]] for help moving the page.

{{#ifeq:{{NAMESPACE:{{#titleparts:{{FULLPAGENAME}}|1|2}}}}|File|'''File renaming:''' if the renaming isn't requested by the uploader, please make sure that the stated reason for renaming complies with the [[Commons:File renaming]] guideline and the title is consistent with [[Commons:File naming]].

'''Administrators''': When moving files, please make sure that the redirect is delinked by adding {{Tlf|universal replace|{{PAGENAME:{{#titleparts:{{FULLPAGENAME}}|1|2}}}}|'''Replace this with the new filename'''|reason=[[Commons:File renaming|File renamed]]}} to [[User:CommonsDelinker/commands]] ([{{fullurl:User:CommonsDelinker/commands|action=edit&function=replace&oldimage={{PAGENAMEE:{{#titleparts:{{FULLPAGENAME}}|1|2}}}}&newimage=REPLACE_THIS_WITH_THE_NEW_FILENAME&replace_reason=File_renamed}} Quick adding])
*Also note that suppressing file redirects might break attribution paths ([http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?diff=prev&oldid=29899213 more information]). Use this option with caution. If the current filename was misleading, the redirect should generally be suppressed or tagged for speedy deletion|'''Warning!'''
This can be a drastic and unexpected change for a popular page; please be sure you understand the consequences of this before proceeding.}}

Thanks. -- User:Docu at 08:00, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done --DieBuche (talk) 08:48, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Would you add the entire update (I think you fixed just the missing bracket)? -- User:Docu at 08:51, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done - however I've kept the =<nowiki> part because else it breaks the thing. It's not suppused to actually show the template but it's code, therefor it's &escaped; and nowiki'ed. –Krinkletalk 22:07, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
