Marktbrunnen, Hildesheim

The Marktbrunnen of Hildesheim is a fountain at the market next to the town hall in Hildesheim, Germany. The fountain was built in 1540; on its top is the herald with the town's coat of arms, on the sides are two pictures with empty coats of arms and twelve heroes on six of the eight pictures, each with a bible quotation. The statue does not represent the paladine of Charlemagne, Roland, though this is a common myth in the town.
