English: Khurumjari is a modern Meitei language word, derived from ancient Meitei language word, Khulumchali. It means "bowing", "obeisance", "salutations", etc. It is used as a form of greetings as well as a mark of respect to people. It is an integral part of the mannerisms in classical Meitei culture. It is usually considered to be equivalent to Namaskar, Namaste, Hello, Privet, Vanakam, Bonjour, Hola, etc.
