This template provides the editnotice for the category namespace. It provides different output if the category page exists and if it does not exist.

Category page does not exist
In this case the template provides links for several more detailed editintros, along with a "preload" template:
- Commons:Categories/editintro/people / Commons:Categories/preload/people
- Commons:Categories/editintro/ships / Commons:Categories/preload/ships
- Commons:Categories/editintro/institution / Commons:Categories/preload/institution
in the format:
To list a page in this category, do not edit this category page. Instead, edit the page you want to list, adding [[Category:Editnotices/Namespace/Category/doc]] at the bottom. You can also turn on the "HotCat" gadget (in your preferences under "tools for categories") to make adding categories easier and quicker. See Commons:Categories for details. |

If the category page exists, the template displays:

Hiding the message
This template is marked with the CSS id and CSS class name ".category-namespace-editnotice", so that editors can apply their own CSS customisation if they wish, in particular to hide it (see en:WP:CSSHIDE for details). To hide the message, add
- #category-namespace-editnotice { display: none !important; }
into Special:Mypage/common.css. See en:Wikipedia:Skin.
