Video script - Share Your Knowledge 2 How (English)
[edit](VO = voiceover (female voice); I = institution (male voice))
- VO: Are you an exhibition space, an archive, or a cultural institution?
- (pause)
- Do you want to share your content and increase the visibility of your artworks and knowledge?
- (pause)
- Share Your Knowledge is here to help you out.
- (pause)
- I: How?
- (pause)
- VO: First, you need to follow Share Your Knowledge guidelines. This means releasing all your digitised content online under the CC BY-SA license.
- (pause)
- Then, inform all your contacts about the change in licence and upload your content to Wikipedia.
- (pause)
- Finally, watch how your content is accessed and used.
- (pause)
- I: What is a CC BY-SA license?
- VO: CC stands for Creative Commons.
- This means that an author can choose which copyright he or she would like to apply to their artwork when they put it online.
- (pause)
- BY means that anyone can use your material freely and for free on condition that you are acknowledged and credited on the new artwork.
- (pause)
- SA means that any new artwork, resulting from your material, must be distributed under the same license. It is like starting out a “creative commons infection”.
- (pause)
- I: So, what do I have to do?
- (pause)
- VO: Embed the CC BY-SA logo on all the pages that have your content.
- If you want to share ALL your material at once, embed the logo on your entire website.
- This will make your content available on the web under the CC license.
- (pause)
- I: What about the archive material that is not yet online?
- (pause)
- VO: If some of your content has been created by someone outside your organisation, you will have to ask for their permission.
- (pause)
- This way, you can release catalogues, DVDs, videos, movies, trailers and images that are relevant to your content.
- (pause)
- To make the project even more visible, let your contacts know about it and, if you really want to enhance your content, tell Wikipedia volunteers!
- (pause)
- By doing this, you will contribute your valuable content to the most-used free encyclopaedia in the world, with an audience of 400 million visitors!
- (pause)
- I: Who can upload contents on Wikipedia?
- (pause)
- VO: You, your colleagues, your collaborators and all Wikipedia volunteers.
- (pause)
- Once the content is online, and following Wikipedia’s rules, anybody will be able to correct a mistake, add an image, translate an article into another language, and update any new information.
- (pause)
- Wikipedia also has tools for you to evaluate how effective this Share Your Knowledge project has been at increasing your content and its visibility!
