Location

[edit]

I noticed User:GeoWriter had suggested that the location was inaccurate, but searching the coastline of the Hudson Bay near Greenland I found this configuration of ponds here. Also paging User:Prokaryotes who originally uploaded this from Flickr; this now can be used to illustrate w:Dewey Soper Migratory Bird Sanctuary if we have an article on it. Wnt, well done for finding the location. Despite you finding the location, I still think that the file name and description text are inaccurate. The location for which you give coordinates is about 30 km from the Foxe Basin coast of Baffin Island. Foxe Basin is apparently considered to not be part of Hudson Bay. The location for which you give coordinates is about 425 km from Hudson Bay and about 890 km from Greenland. I suggest that these distances show that the location is neither in Hudson Bay nor near Greenland (contradicting what is currently shown in the file name and image description text). I suggest that the image should be renamed to "Permafrost thaw ponds on Baffin Island Canada.jpg" for accuracy. I suggest that the description text should also be changed to reflect this. Well, I don't know enough about this to argue against that analysis, so feel free to do as you wish. But I did put it in an article in en.wikipedia, so please make sure that keeps working. Wnt (talk) 23:49, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
