Versions

Regarding this question:

I first see a file submited with an information "Zürich' pronounced in Northern Standard German. Recorded by Peter Isotalo (non-native speaker)". Then I see a new version with "(Moved to proper filename.)" and a growth of 480 bytes in size. Both versions are made by Peter Isotalo. Then I reverted. As you can't move files in Wikimedia, I still don't understand what has happened.

That aside, if it makes sense that Commons has both Northern Standard German and Swiss pronunciation, both should be available with different file names. If you use the {{Information}} template you can indicate other versions in the other_versions field. -Samulili 09:18, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

I downloaded the version that was previously at Image:de-Zuerich.ogg and uploaded it here. It has already been deleted as an incorrectly formatted file name and a duplicate of this version.

As for my recording, natives should always take precedence over non-natives unless the native recording is of abysmally low sound quality. I don't see much reason to keep non-native pronunciations just for the sake of variation. If you want to insist on keeping my recording, I recommend uploading it to a separate file called de-nn-Zürich.ogg where "nn" stands for "non-native".
