Summary
[edit]DescriptionWreck of the MV Creteblock - geograph.org.uk - 722553.jpg |
English: Wreck of the MV Creteblock Towards the end of the first world war, to save steel for the construction of battleships, several ships were built using concrete.
This one, the MV Creteblock ended up at Whitby where it was used for storage. Eventually it became rather dilapidated and the decision was made to take it out to sea where would be sunk. On the way out it got into difficulties and the towing line became detached. It finally sank here on The Scar, where it is easily accessible at low tides.
