English: Melek Ari is a volunteer for the We Will Stop Femicide Platform (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız), a women’s rights organization in Turkey.
The We Will Stop Femicide Platform offers medical and legal services to Turkish women, is active in political lobbying, document the violence experienced by women, and give trainings to inform people of their rights. Melek advocates for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention, as it will empower and protect women in Turkey. She is hopeful for change as women’s rights movements all around the world gain momentum. World Talks features an online collection of interviews with human rights defenders from all over the world. Through these 10-minute interviews, human rights defenders can tell their stories directly to a global audience and help shed light on the issues they face in their home countries. It features talks on discrimination, migrant rights, minority rights, LGBTQI rights and more. |
