DescriptionWirral Line platform at Liverpool Lime Street 01.jpg |
The underground Wirral Line platform at Liverpool Lime Street railway station. In contrast to the above ground mainline station, which is electrified at 25kv using overhead wires, the suburban Merseyrail trains that call here take their power from a 750v third rail. There is only one platform for the Wirral Line at Lime Street station as it is located on a single-track loop constructed in the 1970s to connect the station, along with Moorfields and Liverpool Central stations, to James Street railway station. |
