English: Video recording for Wikimania 2023 Title: Livestreaming editing In this panel we will explore different perspectives, motivations and what benefits we have seen. While the panel have a some prepared points to discuss, we highly encourage the audience to ask questions and we are all used to interacting with the community through the chat. While live-streaming coding or game-play, broadcasting Wikipedia editing is a relatively new phenomenon with few editors doing it. It enables editors to understand other editors workflows and how they use tools by watching editing in real-time on an article with the possibility to ask questions. Compared to a tutorial video, the interactivity is key. It can also be a significant advantage when it comes to understaning how to edit controversial or sensitive content as it could involve a lot of nuance that is hard to capture in written form. The panelists will discuss the benefits of live-streaming, including the possibility of outreach, and getting feedback on edits in real-time. Despite the advantages, live-streaming also presents some potential drawbacks. The panelists will discuss these concerns and highlight how to mitigate these risks. Attendees of the panel session will have the opportunity to learn from the experiences of the panelists and gain insight into the pros and cons of live-streaming when editing Wikipedia. |
