When Truth Lies: A Journey with Schizophrenia (www.whentruthlies.com), Terry Garahan’s first novel, was published in the fall of 2011. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) said, “This novel is an honest and sometimes raw depiction of living with schizophrenia . . . This book puts a human face and an often uncomfortable one, on severe mental illness . . .” All reviews have been very positive and Garahan’s speaking engagements have been well attended. In an hour long interview on Public Radio’s Off the Page (http://wskg.org/episode/when-truth-lies), Garahan expands his discussion of the book to draw on his many years of work with people with severe mental illness. |
