Description

PASSING OF RETIRED CDR FREDRICK AUSTIN CURTICE, DC, USN, 23 May 1935 – 2 August 2015.

Dr. Frederick Curtice entered the Navy via direct accession following his graduation from OHSU in 1962. His assignments as a dental officer included the USS Gompers, USS Enterprise, Naval Dental Center (NDC) Long Beach, NDC Pearl Harbor, and NDC San Diego (32nd St) where he completed an advanced clinical program in prosthodontics. He retired from the Navy in 1984 and worked in private practice for 20 years in both Kailua and Kaneohe, Hawaii. In addition, he traveled several times a year to the Midway Island Atol under contract to provide dental care to the Sri Lankans, hired to preserve the island’s natural resources and structures built during the US Navy occupation surrounding WWII.
