Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Event on Wednesday, November 8 in the Melville J. Herskovits Library of African Studies. Recorded by Northwestern IT. Co-sponsored by Northwestern University Libraries and the Northwestern Program of African Studies.

In this multimedia presentation, based on his chapter in Integrating Pop Culture into the Academic Library, Dr. Kannenberg discusses items related to Marvel Comics' Black Panther by pairing them with other resources also held by the Herskovits Library at Northwestern University.

These pairings allow for opportunities to compare, expand upon, and challenge assumptions about "Africa" and "African-ness" popularized by global media, utilizing the Herskovits' unparalleled collection of primary research materials, including rare books and objects of material culture.
