Nederlands: In Vlaanderen komt MS voor bij ongeveer 100 op 100.000 personen. In Costa Rica komt MS twintig keer minder voor, maar 5 op 100.000 mensen krijgen het. Dat lijkt op het eerste gezicht een tikje vreemd… zijn wij in westerse landen immers niet beter bestand tegen nare ziektes? MS-expert Piet Stinissen, van de UHasselt, werpt zijn licht op multiple sclerose en legt uit waarom de ziekte in bepaalde delen van de wereld meer voorkomt dan in andere. |
