Description

The Ossetian language is an Ossetian language belonging to the north-eastern subgroup of the Iranian group of the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European languages. It is spoken in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania and the Republic of South Ossetia.

According to the 2010 census, the number of speakers in Russia at that time was 451,431, including 432,397 Ossetians, 8,582 Russians, 2,454 Georgians, 1,368 Armenians, 664 Kabardins and 320 Ingush.
