| Description |
English: View of Lough Neagh This photograph was taken at Maghery Slip. Coney Island can be seen in the photograph. It lies 1 km offshore from Maghery village, and is an exciting destination to be explored. The island has a rich history spanning many centuries, with evidence of human occupation dating back 8000 years BC. It was one of the most westerly outposts of the Normans during their occupation of the island from the 12th Century. The island is owned by the National trust and is the only inhabited island on the lough. Boat trips are available by arrangement by contacting Lough Neagh Discovery Centre at Oxford Island National Nature Reserve. They also run on Sunday afternoons in the summer. |
