[edit]DescriptionVice President Nominations & Losing Pres. Candidate Speeches at 2016 Libertarian Natl. Conv., Part 1.webm |
English: After Gary Johnson is selected to be the Libertarian Party's presidential candidate in 2016, losing candidates get short speeches. Then, it is nominations for the Vice Presidential candidate. VP Nominees: William Coley, Alicia Dearn, Derrick Grayson, Larry Sharpe, and William Weld - Gary Johnson's choice.
This footage is real time, speeches for and against the VP candidates, plus all the extraneous motions to suspend the rules and points of order typical of Libertarian individualism and fairness in procedures. Unlike the Democratic and Republican Party convention decision-making, the Libertarian officers listen to their delegates and follow Roberts Rules of Order and their bylaws. The election results are not on this Part 1 because ballot tabulating of the paper ballots took a loooong time. Election Results are on Part 2 and perhaps Part 3 - I haven't finished editing yet. (Spoiler Alert!) In part 2 or 3, Derrick Grayson withdraws giving his support to Sharpe, and Will Coley withdraws asking people to vote their conscience. William Weld wins the nomination by the skin of his teeth on the 2nd ballot. INDEX-------------------------------------------------- Non-Winning Pres.
