Porträt Marie Wilson (1805-1893), uneheliche Tochter von Pauline von Hohenzollern-Hechingen und Louis Rohan-Guéméné. Sie wurde 1821 unter dem Namen "von Steinach" geadelt. Marie ist als Schildkröte mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "Marie Steinach" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "S" versehen. [Bildunterschrift] Die Schildkröt jedes Herz entzückt/ Sie hat auch mir das Hirn verrückt.Biografisches Marie Wilson (1805–1893) war die uneheliche Tochter von Pauline von Hohenzollern-Hechingen (1782–1845) und Louis Rohan-Guéménè (1768–1836) und somit eine Enkeltochter der Herzogin Dorothea von Kurland. 1821 wurde sie unter dem Namen „von Steinach“ geadelt. (1) Den Großteil ihrer Kindheit verbrachte sie bei ihrer Pflegemutter Wilhelmine von Sagan in Ratiborschitz in Böhmen, während des Sommers war man oft gemeinsam in Löbichau und Tannenfeld. Auch auf ihre zahlreichen Reisen begleitete Marie die Kurlanderinnen. So besuchte sie Rom, Neapel und Sizilien.(2) 1820 fand in der Dorfkirche Großstechau Maries Konfirmation statt, der auch die Gäste des Löbichauer Musenhofs beiwohnten. Emilie Binzer zitiert Gustav Parthey dazu: „Als sie [Marie] am Altar ihr einfaches Glaubensbekenntniß mit melodischem Ausdrucke hersagte, da war es vielen schwer, ihre Rührung zu verbergen. Dem weichmüthigen Oberst von Rosty rollten die hellen Thränen über die Wangen.“ (3) Welker fertigte davon eine Zeichnung an, welche sich in Privatbesitz befindet: "Einsegnung von Marie Wilson, nobil. von Steinach (1820)" 1829 heiratete Marie von Steinach den Graf Fabian zu Dohna-Schlodien (1802–1871), Preußischer Geheimer Regierungsrat und Landrat in Sagan.
