Porträt Wilhelmine von Sagan (1781-1839), älteste Tochter der Herzogin Anna Dorothea von Kurlands und Pfelgemutter der Emilie von Binzer. Wilhelmine ist als Pferd mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "Herzogin v. Sagan" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "R" versehen. - nachträglich mit einem Kreuz hinter Titel/Namen versehen [Bildunterschrift] Das Ross ist ein gar edles Thier/ Drum scheinet es ganz prächtig mir.Biografisches Wilhelmine von Sagan (1781–1839), die älteste Tochter von Anna Dorothea von Kurland und dem Herzog Peter von Biron, erbte nach dem Tod ihres Vaters das Herzogtum Sagan. Sie galt nicht nur als schön und reich, sondern auch als sehr geistreich und sprachgewandt. Sie beherrschte das Englische, Französische, Deutsche und Russische fliesend und hatte eine umfassende Erziehung genossen.(1) Die kluge und weit vernetzte Salonniere führte ein bewegtes Leben und ging mehrere Ehen ein. Ihre letzte Ehe mit Graf Carl Rudolph von der Schulenburg (1788–1856) schloss sie 1819 in Löbichau. Zwischen 1809 und 1815 führte Wilhelmine einen bekannten Salon in Wien. Durch ihre Liaison mit dem österreichischen Staatskanzler Metternich (1773–1859) erlangte sie einen gewissen Einfluss auf die politischen Geschehnisse vor und während des Wiener Kongresses. 1819 zog sie nach Sagan, unternahm aber viele Reisen durch ganz Europa. Ihre Pflegetöchter Emilie von Binzer (1801–1891), Marie Steinach (1805–1893) und Klara Bressler (gest. 1818) machte sie schon früh mit dem Salonleben und mit wichtigen Persönlichkeiten der Zeit bekannt. Oft hielt sie sich in Italien auf, wo sie ab 1823 in Neapel einen Salon unterhielt. 1839 starb sie in Wien und wurde in Sagan beigesetzt. 1 Hofmann, Sabine und Klaus: Wo ich einst residierte – wo ich Fürstin des Landes war, Posterstein 2007, S. 27f. |
