Porträt Baron Karl Rosty von Vackolz, ungarischer Edelmann. Stand im militärischen Dienst unter Fürst von Schwarzenberg. Rosty ist als Dom mit Porträtkopf dargestellt. Neben dem Titel "Bar. Rosty" und einem Vers unter dem Bild, ist der linke Rand der Zeichnung mit einem großen und einem kleinen "D" versehen. - nachträglich mit einem Kreuz hinter Titel/Namen versehen [Bildunterschrift] Den heilgen Stephans Dohm zu sehn/ Kann man Millionen Schritte gehen.Biografisches Baron Karl Rosty (1) von Vackolz war ein ungarischer Edelmann. 1815 traf er in Paris mit Karl Philipp, Fürst von Schwarzenberg (1771–1820), zusammen und stand dem Feldmarschall wohl als Adjutant zur Seite. (2) Später wurde Rosty Major eines Husarenregiments. Er war u.a. Träger des St.-Annen-Ordens (3) und ein Freund des Grafen Karl Rudolf von der Schulenburg (4) (1788–1856). Genaue Angaben zu seinem Leben sind nicht überliefert. „Major Karl von Rosty, einer der schönsten, aber auch der unbewußtesten Männer, war ein alter Freund des Hauses, auch Schulenburgs. Parthey sagt: ‚Er hatte alle Feldzüge gegen die Franzosen durchgemacht und glühte vor Begeisterung, wenn er auf jene Zeiten zu sprechen kam. Mit edler männlicher Schönheit und hoher Gestalt verband er die natürliche Grazie der Bewegung, die den meisten ungarischen Aristokraten eigen ist. Bei seinem martialischen Aeußern besaß er eine unbeschreibliche, wahrhaft kindliche Gutmüthigkeit.’“ (Emilie von Binzer, Drei Sommer in Löbichau, S. 90) 1 Der Name ist auch unter der Schreibweise „Rosti“ bekannt.
