| Description |
English: A mild skin rash formed in reaction to crystals of uric acid in the skin of one foot, as diagnosed by a physician on the day of the photo. This rash was mostly limited to this foot. This (minor) symptom accompanied (and interestingly, to some extent even preceded) a roughly three-day attack of gout in the Achilles tendon and peroneus brevis of this foot with a blood uric acid level approximately 8.5 mg/dl. The attack was induced by a very low calorie diet including 480 calories of beef jerky. Standard allopurinol treatment, starting with a low dose of 100 mg, was prescribed to resolve this and other symptoms. |
