Description U.S. Navy Sailors aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) hold a phone and distance line connected to USNS Bridge (T-AOE 10) steady during a replenishment-at-sea (RAS) in the Pacific Ocean Aug. 11, 2007. Phone and distance lines mark the distance between connected ships while offloading supplies, food and fuel during a RAS. John C. Stennis, Kitty Hawk and Nimitz Carrier Strike Groups are deployed in support of Valiant Shield 2007. The joint exercise consists of 28 naval vessels, more tha n 300 aircraft, and approximately 20,000 service members from the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
