Description
English: ST THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (Sept.7, 2017) U.S. Navy Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) load evacuees onto an MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter as part of first response efforts to the U.S. Virgin Island in the wake of Hurricane Irma. The patients were transported to St. Croix for additional care. The Department of Defense is supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Irma to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole- of-government response effort.
